Day 4 Banff - Lake Louise - Columbia Icefields Experience - Banff
This morning travel north from Banff along the famous Icefield Parkway. Soaring rocky mountain peaks, vast valleys, icefields and turquoise lakes are what make this journey one of the most captivating drives in the world. Upon arrival at the Columbia Icefield, jump aboard the ‘Ice Explorer’ which is a huge snow coach that will take you across the surface of the Athabasca Glacier. The glacier is approximately 6 km long, covering an area of 6 km squared, and is measured to be between 90–300m thick. After this awesome journey turn back towards Banff. Along the way enjoy a stop at the picturesque Lake Louise, which provides one of Canada’s most iconic photo opportunities. This morning after breakfast transfer to the railway station to begin your Rocky Mountaineer experience. Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Banff to Kamloops, in the heart of the BC Interior. Enjoy the spectacular array of scenery as you travel between the glacier and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies, over mountain passes and through remarkable tunnels, along rocky lakeshores and across the ranch lands of the interior. Today’s highlights include the Continental Divide, the Spiral Tunnels, Kicking Horse Canyon, Rogers Pass, and Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven. You’ll sail beyond the Inside Passage into the more protected Alaska Inside Passage. Home to diverse wildlife—orca, mountain goats, bald eagles, bears, puffins, sea otters and more—the complex labyrinth of fjords and bays are where whales and sea lions find refuge during the summer months. You’ll never forget the sight of 40-ton whales hurling themselves into the air, almost completely escaping the water. Luggage storage facilities are also available (not included) so you may explore downtown without the restrictions of your luggage. CLIMATE & AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
Vancouver: Vancouver usually enjoys excellent summer weather characterised by very pleasant, warm days with abundant sunshine. Average daytime temperature in July being 22°C.
Banff: The climate in Banff is cold and temperate due to its elevation (1400m). There is significant rainfall throughout the year in Banff, even the driest month still has a lot of rainfall. Summer temperatures are the warmest month and are pleasant with an average high of 21.6 °C and an average low of 7.3 °C. Snow has been recorded in all months of the year.
Alaska: Alaska’s Inside Passage region has a temperate summer climate. Dry in early summer, with slightly more rain likely from August onward, temperatures average between 4 °C and 20 °C. The weather is changeable. Expect long days of sunlight.
TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
Tour Guide: Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group.
Tour Leader: An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined.
Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when particularly required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.
Disembarkation: Begins approximately 2 hours after docking. Due to security reasons, all guests must be on board 2 hours before sailing. Itineraries are subject to change at any time without notice. Check your specific sailing for exact departure and arrival times. All times are local to the port. Cruise Loyalty Discounts: Please note: Travellers booked via TripADeal will not be entitled to receive any cruise line customer loyalty discounts. Some meals are included in the tour, for all other meals; lunches and dinners the tour leader (when available) will offer assistance with reservations, suggestions and directions to local restaurants. You can also

You will be responsible for all your personal belongings whilst on the tour. With regards to luggage, you must carry your own luggage from the coach to the hotel room and back to the coach. The driver will assist with the uploading and off-loading of the luggage from the coach.
Gratuities (tips) are not included in the tour price for services of the tour leader (when available) and driver throughout the tour. The recommended tip for the tour leader and driver is $2 CAD per person per day, which will be collected whilst on tour. Pre-paid gratuities onboard the cruise are included in the package price.
