Day 1: Wednesday 23 May 2018 - Toowoomba to Townsville

Depart Toowoomba mid-morning and transfer to Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport for a direct flight to Townsville. On arrival take a sightseeing tour of Townsville with Toby! Enjoy a trip to the top of Castle Hill providing spectacular views over the tropical city and across the Coral Sea to beautiful Magnetic Island. Take in the most scenic spots of Townsville North Queensland and hear stories of the city’s 150 year history. Learn about the plans for Townsville's future which will continue to evolve the city into one of the largest and most dynamic regional cities in Australia. Dine tonight at the Casino and then explore or retire at your leisure. Meals: D

Day 2: Thursday 24 May 2018 - River to Mountains Tour

Toby will join the tour again today for the River to the Mountains Tour. Discover the heritage listed chimney that belonged to one of Townsville’s first industries and learn the story behind it. View the Regional Hospital and James Cook University. Learn about the early pioneers and explorers and the history of the Ross River before enjoying a walk around the magnificent River-way complex. Head for Thornton’s Gap to see the spectacular mountain top view. Then immerse yourself in the memorabilia at the (Eureka Hotel) Heritage Tea Rooms. This piece of history still stands to remind travellers of a time when the world and Townsville was a far different place. After lunch, return to Townsville and disembark on a Military History Tour. As the home of Australia’s largest defense base, Townsville possesses a fascinating military history. Explore museums, memorials, monuments and barracks as you piece together the stories of the people and events that have played an integral part in Townsville’s military history. Meals: BLD

Day 3: Friday 25 May 2018 - Magnetic Island

This morning, explore the Strand Foreshore development before boarding the ferry service to Magnetic Island at the Marina. The ferry will take the group to Nelly Bay on Magnetic Island for the islands best bus tour. Enjoy the friendly expert commentary which exposes the history, geology and folklore of the island and points out the vast native wildlife. Enjoy a relaxing lunch at Horseshoe Bay before a return ferry trip to Townsville and enjoy a little free time to shop or explore. Meals: BD

Day 4: Saturday 26 May 2018 - Reef HQ and Billabong Sanctuary

After a leisurely start to the day, visit the award winning Reef HQ to experience the Great Barrier Reef (without getting wet)!  Reef HQ is the world’s largest living coral reef aquarium containing an amazing world filled with thousands of charismatic marine creatures. Find impressive exhibits showcasing rare and extraordinary features of the Great Barrier Reef. Enjoy lunch at the Water View Café then travel a little south of Townsville for a visit to Billabong Sanctuary. See snakes, lizards and crocs during the reptile experience and maybe hold a koala or cuddle a wombat. The sanctuary offers many animal shows including the popular birds of prey show. Late afternoon return to the resort for the last night of the tour. Meals: BLD

Day 5: Sunday 27 May 2018 - Townsville to Toowoomba

After breakfast, check out and travel to Townsville airport to board the Air North flight back to Toowoomba. Transfer back to Stonestreets depot in Toowoomba. Meals: B
