Elvis Festival - It's Now or Never

It’s been 40 years since Elvis Presley left the building, yet 25,000-plus Elvis fans still gather in the Central NSW town of Parkes annually to celebrate 'The King' every January. The Parkes Elvis Festival is growing in both popularity and awareness every year with record crowds expected for in 2018 to celebrate 50 years of the ’68 Comeback Special. While Elvis and his music are certainly the focus of the festival, there is much more to see and do incouding live rock 'n' roll entertainment, classic cars of the era and over 100 other uniquely themed events throughout the festival weekend. Enjoy and relive the rock’n’roll heyday that took the world by storm, be entertained by look-a-like contests, tribute to Elvis competitions, the Elvis Street Parade, displays of Elvis artefacts the a real Gospel Service.

But this tour isn't just about "The King", it also showcases some of the local towns and their unique experiences along the way. For instance, you'll explore the Old Texas Rabbit Factory, which sounds a little strange, but this incredibly well presented attraction does a fantastic job of highlighting it's importance to the town's survival in the 1930s. Stay a night in Gunnedah, centered in a beautiful agricultural region which inspired the famous poet Dorothea Mackellar to write her famous poem "My Country".

I love a sunburnt country, A land of sweeping plains, Of ragged mountain ranges, Of droughts and flooding rains. I love her far horizons, I love her jewel-sea, Her beauty and her terror - The wide brown land for me!

Tour the town of Orange with a local and discover the history of the town dating back to the gold mining and colonial days. Visit a beautiful park estabished in 1845 and an ancient volcano, Mount Conobolas, the highest peak between the Blue Mountains and the Indian Ocean. Rest a night in Dubbo, where the Stonesteet families legacy of bus and coach travel began in 1978. You'll also pass through lovely towns like Bingera, Barraba, Coolah, Gilgandra, Coonabarabran, Narrabri, Moree, Goondiwindi, Millmerran and Pittsworth.
