Day 1: Monday 23 December 2019
Toowoomba to Gladstone
Begin this Christmas holiday escape in Toowoomba and travel north to Nanango for a morning tea stop. Then, continue to Gayndah for lunch at the Grand Hotel. After lunch, pass through Mundubbera and Monto and into the beautiful Boyne Valley to Kalpowar, located next to the Cannindah and Kalpowar State Forests. The last part of your journey passes Awoonga Lake and Calliope on the way to Gladstone, your home for the next 4 nights. Check in to Rydges Gladstone in the heart of the city where all rooms are light and spacious with modern furnishings. Rooms feature Rydges Dream Beds for the best night’s sleep. Wake up to stunning window views of Gladstone Harbour or the Gladstone city skyline. Meals: LD

Day 2: Tuesday 24 December 2019
Agnes Waters & Seventeen Seventy
After breakfast, depart Gladstone and head south through the quaint township of Miriam Vale which is a hub for local timber, cattle and dairy industries. Arrive in the seaside village of Agnes Water on the Discovery Coast, surrounded by pristine beaches. Stop for morning tea at the Agnes Water Visitor Centre before travelling to Seventeen Seventy to board the famous pink LARC (an amphibious bus)! Enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach and explore National Parks and waterways, while experiencing LARCing sandbar fun, informative commentary and the chance to sight Australian wildlife and migratory birds. Later, enjoy a look around historic 1770 including the Captain Cook Memorial and Wave Lookout. Later return to Agnes Waters for a leisurely walk through natural bushland along the Discovery Trail to the lookout for stunning coastal views. Return to the Gladstone accommodation late afternoon to freshen up before dinner. Meals: BLD

Day 3: Wednesday 25 December 2019
Christmas Day – church, Christmas Feast and Gladstone sights
Merry Christmas! Enjoy a leisurely start to the day, then after breakfast, for those wishing to, attend Christmas church services. Your coach captain will transfer you for the morning service. Mid-morning the group will set out for a Gladstone Highlights tour. Stop at Auckland Point for views over Gladstone Harbour, visit Spinnaker Park with views of Curtis Island, home of the LNG ship loading facilities. See the Gladstone Marina, the city centre and Barney point. Visit the Queensland Alumina Lookout and see the processing plant. Return to Gladstone in time for a traditional Christmas luncheon Feast including hot and cold seafood, traditional roasts, roast vegetables and a variety of salads and Christmas desserts. After Christmas lunch, you might like to relax at the hotel or maybe take a swim in the pool before an afternoon departure for Boyne Island, home of the Boyne Aluminium smelter and once back on the mainland and Tannum Sands. Tonight, visit the Yaralla Sports club for dinner before returning to your accommodation. Meals: BLD

Day 4: Thursday 26 December 2019
Rockhampton and Capricorn Caves
Today head north into the Capricorn Region to Rockhampton, the biggest city in the Fitzroy River Basin.  Rockhampton is one of the most beautiful regional centres in Australia; one of the most elegant, and well preserved, streetscapes in the country. Take a sightseeing tour aboard the coach and see the concentration of beautiful old buildings, tree-lined streets and the gently flowing Fitzroy River beside Quay Street. Lunch today will be at the historic Great Western Hotel, established in 1862. The iconic hotel has a rich history, not only as a hotel and award-winning Steakhouse, but also an entertainment venue, renowned for bringing thrilling events such as rodeos and professional bull riding to Central Queensland. This afternoon visit one of Central Queensland’s premier nature-based attractions – Capricorn Caves. Join a guide for a 60-minute tour of this spectacular cave. The walking tour will leave you with lasting memories of this ancient geological history, early explorers, the wonders of wildlife and the special cave acoustics. After, return to Gladstone for dinner and the last night of your Christmas tour.  Meals: BLD

Day 5: Friday 27 December 2019
Gladstone – Brisbane Tilt Train
Farwell Gladstone this morning and board Queensland’s Rail's Tilt Train for a journey to Brisbane. Settle into your comfy seat and enjoy a smooth and comfortable ride from Gladstone to Brisbane. Each seat enjoys a generous recline, a fold-down table and footrest and onboard entertainment provided by the overhead screens. All seats face the direction of travel. Morning tea and a hot lunch will be served on-board as you travel down through the  Queensland towns Bundaberg, Maryborough West, Gympie and Nambour. On arrival in Brisbane mid-afternoon reboard your tour coach and transfer back to Toowoomba and home.  Meals: BL
