An exciting day is in store today and it all starts with the famous Kuranda Scenic Railway.  This famous railway winds its way on a journey from Cairns to Kuranda, the village in the rainforest, with Freshwater situated along the line with views of the surrounding mountains. Rising from sea level to 328m, the journey to Kuranda passes spectacular waterfalls and into the stunning Barron Gorge. Lake Barrine is our destination this morning, which brings us to the cool atmosphere of the Atherton Tablelands.  Here we come across a beautiful, enchanting natural lake hidden in World Heritage Rainforest. Lake Barrine is something special as it is actually a water filled crater left by a volcanic eruption approximately 10,000 years ago.  Relax on a 45 minute informative rainforest and wildlife cruise before a delicious Devonshire morning tea at the Teahouse Café.  After morning tea, see the most amazing and photographed tree on the Atherton Tablelands – The Curtain Fig Tree, a unique example of nature’s  unpredictability and power.  From here, enjoy a little free time in the main town of the Tablelands, Atherton, purchase your lunch and stroll around awhile before departing for Skybury Coffee.  Nestled in the heart of one of Australia’s most diverse and richest food bowls on the Atherton Tablelands is Skybury Tropical Plantation – home to Skybury Coffee and Papaya.  This family owned plantation has been growing the country’s best coffee and tropical fruit for the past 30 years.  Later return to Cairns and our accommodation. Meals: BD
