Overland from the Golden princess

Loaded with experiences, this tour begins with a flight to Melbourne to board the Golden Princess cruise liner. At nearly a mile long, boasting 17 decks, and an abundance of dining and entertainment options, this two night cruise will be as relaxing or as adventurous as you make it. Arrive and disembark in Port Adelaide, then sightsee from the Mount Lofty Summit and experience the historic German village of Hahndorf. Dine at the Adelaide Casino in the old Adelaide Railway Station. Spend a full day experiencing the famous Barossa Valley, Australia’s premier wine region. Enjoy a delicious lunch at Chateau Tanunda, before an estate and winery tour. The following morning, board Great Southern Rail’s, “The Overland” train for a scenic journey to Melbourne. On arrival enjoy a buffet dinner at Crown Casino. Spend a morning exploring Melbourne’s famous Southbank precinct at your leisure before departing Melbourne Airport on a flight to Brisbane and Stonestreets Coach journey back to Toowoomba.

Day 1: Thursday 15 March 2018 - Toowoomba - Melbourne – Golden Princess

Transfer to Brisbane Airport to board the flight to Melbourne. On arrival, head straight to the Docklands Cruise Ship Terminal and board the beautiful Golden Princess. After locating and settling in to your stateroom, head up to Horizon Court buffet restaurant for a late lunch. Later, explore the ship at your leisure. At nearly a mile long and with 17 decks, there’s plenty to see. The Golden Princess departs Melbourne at 4pm so head up to the top decks as she sails out of Melbourne under the Westgate Bridge and into Port Phillip Bay. . Meals: LD

Day 2: Friday 16 March 2018 - Golden Princess at sea

Your days aboard the Golden Princess are free to explore, relax or enjoy at your leisure. During the day at sea there’ll be plenty of organised activities to take part in, or you might like to visit the Grand Casino, do some shopping in the atrium or even take to the sports deck for some golf putting. In the evening enjoy some of the fantastic onboard entertainment, shows or night entertainment venues.  Meals: BLD

Day 3: Saturday 17 March 2018 - Golden Princess – Arrive Adelaide

After breakfast, disembark at Port Adelaide for a day of sightseeing. After taking some photos of the Golden Princess, take in the sights of historic Port Adelaide. From here head in to Adelaide to explore and enjoy lunch in the seaside suburb of Glenelg. Gaze out from Mount Lofty Summit for fantastic views back over the city and bay, then travel to the historic village of Hahndorf, where you’ll step back in time and explore this heritage listed German village. In the evening, enjoy a delicious buffet dinner at the Adelaide Casino, located in the old Adelaide Railway Station. Meals: BLD

Day 4: Sunday 18 March 2018 - Barossa Valley Wine Trail

Head to the Barossa Valley after breakfast to enjoy the world renowned wine region. Dating back to 1843, this region was founded by German settlers and today, it's a must-see destination for tourists. Visit some of the wineries the Barossa is famous for then see Menglers Hill lookout for great views of the valley. Travel through the towns of Tanunda, Nuriootpa and Angaston before a delicious lunch at Chateau Tanunda and Estate and Winery tour. On the return journey to Adelaide, stop at the Barossa Reservoir and the famous Whispering Wall. Meals: BLD

Day 5: Monday 19 March 2018 - Overland Train – Adelaide to Melbourne

An early start and early breakfast put the group at Adelaide Parklands Terminal in time to board Great Southern Rails – “The Overland” train to Melbourne. Relax in a Red Service carriage with comfortable forward facing reclining seats as the towns of Murray Bridge, Bordertown, Dimboola, Horsham, Stawell and Ararat glide by. Arrive in Melbourne early evening at Southern Cross Terminal then transfer to the Crown Casino for dinner. Feast at the Kitchen Workshop buffet before a short trip to the accommodation in Melbourne’s Southbank Precinct. Meals: BD)

Day 6: Tuesday 20 March 2018 - Melbourne – Brisbane - Toowoomba

Following a leisurely breakfast, head out and explore Melbourne’s Southbank Precinct. It’s only a 2 minute walk from the accommodation to the Southbank Promenade on the banks of the Yarra River. Discover the many shops and cafes that this area is famous for, or perhaps visit Eureka Tower and observation deck to enjoy the views of Melbourne. You could take a cruise on the Yarra River past the city and beautiful parkland and gardens, or downstream to the Port of Melbourne. After lunch (own expense) transfer to Melbourne Airport for the return flight to Brisbane, then home to Toowoomba. Meals: B
